THE BEGINNING OF MY TRAVEL DIARY

Travelling is all about discovering, wondering, sometimes struggling, but it is overall collecting memories and growing. Since I set foot in Cadiz for my Erasmus, I realised how much I loved sharing my experiences, good or bad, which make every trip unique. So, what's better than a blog to gather everything and bring you along? 

WHO AM I? 

My name is Marie and I'm 20 years old. Travel has always been a huge part of my life. From childhood trips with my family to living alone abroad multiple times, every experience has shaped me and the way I see
the world. Over the years, I've had the chance to visit amazing destinations, each with his own charms and lessons. Spending a year in the U.S. as an exchange student was a turning point for me since it opened my eyes to different cultures and made me realise how small we are compared to the world. 

MY TRAVEL HIGHLIGHTS 

Exploring the world as a child, from different cities of Europe to South Africa has given me unforgettable moments with my family and built my love for travelling. Those early experiences - whether it was wandering through the historic streets of Barcelona, watching wildlife on a safari near Cape Town, or tanning on a Turkish beach - opened my curiosity to discover new places, languages, food and traditions. 

Living in the U.S. taught me about independence, adaptation and the benefits of stepping outside of my comfort zone. From going to an American high-school to celebrating new traditions like Thanksgiving in my new family, this year abroad was a year of firsts. 

Cadiz, my current home, reminds me everyday of the cultural diversity and continuously broadens my perspective, thanks to my Erasmus friends coming from all over the world. Learning about new traditions, languages and ways of thinking became an everyday occurence. Cadiz also taught me to enjoy the simple joys of everyday, like wandering in the old town or watching the sunset at La Caleta. 

As much as everything I said sounds magical, there is also bad sides and unexpected experiences about traveling that make the journey unique which I will talk about in this blog.
